Music at Chapel Hill
Vision
At Chapel Hill, we believe music should inspire creativity, expression and enjoyment. We aim for all pupils to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of music, fostering a lifelong love of the subject. Through engaging and inclusive experiences, children explore a range of musical styles while building confidence in performing, composing and listening.
Intent
Our Music curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils:
- Develop an understanding of the inter-related dimensions of music (pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and structure)
- Gain knowledge and appreciation of a wide range of musical genres and their historical context
- Learn to read and interpret musical notation
- Experience playing a variety of instruments
Through this, we aim to nurture confident, creative and reflective musicians who can appreciate music from different cultures and time periods.
Implementation
At Chapel Hill, music is delivered through a progressive and engaging curriculum that provides all children with practical and enriching experiences.
